Lionsgate and MRC’s star-studded murder mystery KNIVES OUT comes to Germany and Austria

Fred Kogel’s new company brings KNIVES OUT in all-rights deal to Germany and Austria

The newly founded media company, which emerges from Tele München Group, Universum Film, i&u TV and Wiedemann & Berg Film, adds the fresh and modern take on the classic “whodunnit”-mystery genre with an outstanding cast to its slate in an all-rights deal for Germany and Austria.

The film by acclaimed writer/director Rian Johnson (“Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi”, “Looper”) pays tribute to mystery mastermind Agatha Christie. Produced by Ram Bergman (“Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi”, “Looper”) and Johnson, Lionsgate and MRC will release the star-studded film domestically on Thanksgiving.

The impressive cast of this fun, modern-day murder mystery where everyone is a suspect includes Daniel Craig (“James Bond 007”-Franchise), Chris Evans (“Avengers”-Franchise), Golden Globe nominee Ana de Armas (“Blade Runner 2049”), Golden Globe-winner Jamie Lee Curtis (“Halloween”-Franchise), Academy Award®-nominee Toni Colette (“Hereditary”, “The Sixth Sense”), Don Johnson (“Django Unchained”), Academy Award®-nominee Michael Shannon (“The Shape of Water”, “Nocturnal Animals”), LaKeith Stanfield (“Get Out”, “Snowden”), Golden Globe-nominee Katherine Langford (“13 Reasons why”, “Love, Simon”), Jaeden Martell (“It”, “The Book of Henry”) and Academy Award®-winner Christopher Plummer (“All the Money in the World”, “The Man Who Invented Christmas”).

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death. KNIVES OUT is a witty and stylish whodunnit guaranteed to keep audiences guessing until the very end.
