Fred Kogel is an experienced media manager who has been working as managing director and producer in the radio, TV and film industries for over 25 years.

After graduating as a lawyer, he started his career in 1981 as a radio producer for ARD and various private radio stations. In 1989 he moved into television as an independent producer realizing major entertainment shows, including the "Eurovision Song Contest" (1989-1999) for ARD and "Wetten, dass ..." (1991-1995), the most successful TV show on German television, for ZDF. From 1993 – 1995, he also became Head of Entertainment at ZDF. This was followed by six years as a Member of the Management Board of the TV channel Sat.1, where he was responsible for programming, sales and the merger of the channel into ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG.

In 2001, he founded Constantin Entertainment GmbH, which developed into one of Germany's leading production companies in the television sector. In the same period he became a Member of the Management Board of Kirch Media until he took over the position of CEO of Constantin Film AG for six years in 2003. At the same time, Fred Kogel founded Kogel & Schmidt GmbH in 2004 as Managing Partner together with the well-known entertainer Harald Schmidt and produced late-night shows for ARD, Sat.1 and Sky. In parallel, he also founded Fred Kogel GmbH, with which he consults and supports nationally and internationally renowned media companies and talents, including the German actor, director and producer Til Schweiger until 2014. In 2013 he produced the TV show featuring the most important award in the German film business, the German Film Award. In 2014, he merged Kogel & Schmidt GmbH with Fred Kogel GmbH and in the same year, until 2017, he assumed the position of CEO of the publicly listed Constantin Medien AG.

He was a Member of the Supervisory Boards of Constantin Film AG (1999-2003; 2009-2014), ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG (2002) and Constantin Medien AG (2009-2014).

Prior to that, he was Chief Officer Group Content at ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE from 2013 to 2017. In this position, he was responsible for the entire program sourcing with license acquisitions, commissioned productions and theatrical co-productions as well as the monetization of programs across the entire group. The latter included in particular the strategic planning of the exploitation windows across the linear and digital channels of the broadcasting group as well as program sales in German-speaking territories. 

Dr. Markus Frerker was also Managing Director of ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland GmbH and ProSiebenSat.1 Digital GmbH as well as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of ProSieben Puls 8 TV AG in Switzerland.

Before that, he worked for 13 years for McKinsey, the world's leading management consultancy for top management. As partner and head of the German practice group for media, telecommunications and technology, his focus was on strategy consulting, business development and organization. He advised a wide range of clients including TV production companies and broadcasters, music publishers, record labels, orchestras, newspapers, magazines, sports federations and leagues, online offerings and museums.

Before joining McKinsey, he studied medicine in Stanford, Kyoto, London and Hanover, where he also earned his PhD. He worked as a surgeon at the university hospitals in Essen and Munich.

In addition to his professional activities, he is a member of the board of trustees of the Deutsches Museum in Munich, the world's largest museum of science and technology.
