Concorde Home Entertainment

In 1989, TMG acquired the company Vestron Video, the catalog of which already contained 300 titles, including international successes such as „Dirty Dancing“. One year later, the company was renamed CONCORDE VIDEO. In 1997, the company rang in a new era of home entertainment with the publication of „12 Monkeys“, the first PAL DVD in Europe, and has since been operating under the name CONCORDE HOME ENTERTAINMENT.

During the next several years, CONCORDE HOME ENTERTAINMENT continued to uphold its innovative character and set further benchmarks for the home entertainment industry with the first DVD in DTS sound format („The Jackal“) and the introduction of rental DVDs to the German market. In 2004, CONCORDE HOME ENTERTAINMENT met new digital challenges with the release of „Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle Of Life“ as the first high-resolution DVD in Windows Media Format (WMV-HD DVD). Since 2005, top films have also been released as UMDs (Universal Media Discs), which can be played on the portable Sony PSP console.

The provider’s widely diversified program catalog contains, among others, the premium series Cine Collection, which offers popular blockbusters and big cinema hits with extensive bonus material, such as the successful musical adaption „The Phantom Of The Opera“, the thriller „Silent Hill“, and the fantasy fairy-tale „The Brothers Grimm“. Classic Selection presents classics in film history and almost-forgotten gems for the first time on DVD, for example the Academy Award®-winning film „Cinema Paradiso“, the drama „Goodbye, Children“, the opera film „Don Giovanni“, and masterpieces of directing icons François Truffaut and Claude Chabrol.

Additionally, since the end of 2004, CONCORDE HOME ENTERTAINMENT has released the series „The Legendary Miniseries” on DVD. The adventure series produced and edited by Walter Ulbrich offer highlights in TV entertainment, including „The Seawolf“, „The Leatherstocking Tales“, and „Deux ans de vacances“.

CONCORDE HOME ENTERTAINMENT publishes a selective family and children’s program under the label Concolino, which has successfully been established on the market since its introduction in the fall of 2003. Besides well-known, quality educational cartoon series such as „Lilli The Witch“ and successful movies like „The Wild Soccer Bunch“, the label also offers popular children’s film classics such as „Der Räuber Hotzenplotz“ and „The Last Unicorn“.

In 2007, CONCORDE HOME ENTERTAINMENT has several causes for celebration: besides the 10 year anniversary of the DVD, which will be commemorated with a special limited edition of „12 Monkeys“, it will have been exactly 20 years since the film „Dirty Dancing“ conquered cinemas all over the world. For this occasion, CONCORDE HOME ENTERTAINMENT will introduce „Anniversary-Edition 20 Years Dirty Dancing“, which contains exclusive bonus material that has never before been available on DVD.
